Position Experience and Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have experience playing the playing the organ and piano, as well as working with several different choir types including youth, young adults, male chorus, senior choir, combine choirs, and Worship & Praise Teams. Incorporate drama, spoken word, dance, and other appropriate artistic expressions in worship. Possesses the ability to teach new music to individuals and groups. Be able to read sheet music and teach parts, as well as play different genres of Christian music, especially anthems, hymns, spirituals, and gospel, which is necessary for the growth of the group at large. The ability to lead congregational singing and play the Hammond organ.

In addition:

Have good organizational and communicational skills. Be able to work well with a team. Be able to lead both inexperience and training voices. Be patient and encouraging. Have a good ear for music and knowledge of music theory. Open to suggestions. Operate in the spirit of discipline, humility, love, and compassion.

Responsibilities:

The primary role and responsibility of the Minister of Music and the arts is for overseeing and coordinating the worship ministry and artistic elements within the church. This includes planning and leading the Music Department in the worship service, integrating creative arts into services and ensuring that all worship experiences align with the churches mission and values. The minister of music and arts works closely with the Senior/Executive Pastor, musician’s, vocalists, and the media team to facilitate meaningful and engaging worship that honors God and inspires and enhances the congregational worship and fellowship.

Other responsibilities will include working with the pianist to enhance the worship experience and completing sound checks before service. When called upon, lead the church and congregation in all areas of the music ministry. Procure choir music that is appropriate for worship. Provide musical service during special programs such as: Candlelight/Christmas, Watch-Night Service, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and other special programs that require musical assistance, such as weddings, funerals, revivals, and ministry anniversaries. Become familiar with and support the pastors over all vision and goals and communicate frequently to coordinate music with the ministry of the word.
