Worship Director

Intro: Christian Layman Church (CLC) is a non-denominational church, predominantly Asian-American, meeting in Oakland, CA. CLC has proudly served the community since 1922. Our congregation is made up of 150+ people, from spiritual grandparents, aunties and uncles, college students all the way down to newborns! Our attendees and members are primarily commuting from all points of the San Francisco Bay Area!

Job Title: Worship Director

Purpose: To lead Christian Layman Church in corporate praise and worship and help shape weekly gatherings in a way that brings glory to God and makes disciples of Jesus.

General Job Description:
The Director of Worship will provide overall leadership in planning, coordinating, and operating the worship ministry. This role includes working closely with church staff, the board, and volunteers to guide the congregation in worship. The Director will meet regularly with pastors and the staff team to craft weekly worship services, lead worship teams, and recruit and train volunteers for service participation. Additionally, the Director of Worship will lead in services and/or equip others to do so, conduct weekly rehearsals, and oversee A/V and sound volunteers.

Responsibilities:

Worship Ministry

• Lead and direct worship teams for Sunday worship services
• Prayerfully prepare worship set and run weekly rehearsals
• Oversee all areas of worship production (worship guide, worship slides, maintenance of church instruments and sound equipment, livestream)
• Plan musical worship for special services (e.g. Worship & Prayer Nights, Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Easter, Retreats, etc.)

Support/development of worship members

• Shepherd, manage, and care for all volunteers in exalting ministry
• Build relationships among the worship ministry team members.

Oversee and coordinate Sunday worship service

• Cast vision for overall worship experience and execute (work with pastors, prayer ministry, etc)
• Schedule and communicate with the worship team, visuals, sound, and community life volunteers for the year.
• Serve as main point of contact for all elements of Sunday worship service

Terms: 15-20 hours per week

Compensation: $25-$35/hour based on experience. Must work at least 20 hours per week to be eligible for benefits.
