Location: Bark River Bible Church, Bark River, MI
Job Type: Full-Time
Position Overview: The Senior Pastor’s responsibilities include preaching, teaching, discipleship, and pastoral care (counseling, visitations, funerals, weddings, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver biblically sound, gospel-focused sermons that challenge, equip, and encourage the local body in their walk with Christ.
• Lead by example in spiritual disciplines and model Christ-like behavior.
• Shepherd the congregation by offering pastoral care, counseling, and prayer support.
• Develop and implement strategies for effective ministry growth, outreach, and discipleship.
• Work alongside church leadership to ensure healthy church governance, environment, and effective operation.

 

Education & Experience:

• A degree from a Bible college or seminary is preferred.
• Experience in preaching, teaching, and pastoral care is preferred.

 

Spiritual Qualifications:

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing personal relationship with Him.
• A heart for discipleship, growth, and community engagement.
• Sound understanding of Scripture and its doctrines.

 

Skills & Abilities:

• Exceptional communication and preaching skills.
• Proven leadership ability in a church or similar setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
• Ability to navigate and resolve conflict in a Biblical manner with grace and wisdom.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

 

Salary: Compensation package starts at $65,000, commensurate with experience. The senior pastor’s family will also enjoy the use of the recently renovated parsonage located next door to the church. The parsonage is a ranch style home with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and laundry units located on the main floor, with a partially-finished walk-out basement, including an additional bedroom.

 

About us: Bark River Bible Church is located in Bark River, MI, a small town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Escanaba is an easy 11-mile drive to the east on US Highway 2. In Escanaba you’ll find stores such as Meijer, Walmart, Menards, Hobby Lobby, several parks, and other various recreation opportunities. The closest major city is Green Bay, WI, which is about a 2-hour drive.
